Yatanarpon Teleport will finalize the selection process for its international partner by the end of this month, and an agreement with a Europe-based company is almost certain.
After negotiations with Thai-based True Corporation and a Malaysia-based company have failed, Yatanarpon Teleport began negotiating with another foreign company and will finalize the process by the end of this month, according to Director U Yan Win from Yatanarpon Teleport Co., ltd.
“It’ll be done by the end of this month. The deal with this company is almost certain now. I don’t want to disclose the country of origin of this company. All I can say is that it is a European company,” says U Yan Win.
The two companies are currently going through general discussion. Only after an agreement is reached will they start working on infrastructure and other projects for operator services. Yatanarpon Teleport has prepared its employees—all local—for operator services.
According to Posts and Telecommunications Department, it will provide a formal license to the partnership once they receive a complete application.
Two foreign telecommunications operators in Myanmar, Ooredoo Myanmar and Telenor Myanmar, both of which have already received telecom licenses, are already operating in the country. Both have officially announced its projected sim card sales in August and September respectively.
