Yangon – Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) has given permits to two new domestic and international airlines based in Nay Pyi Taw in October.
The two airlines are Apex Airline Public Co., Ltd. and FMI Air Charter Ltd. Both are owned by Myanmar citizens. Apex Airlines is operated by Dawei-based Anawa Hlwan Group, owned by U Khin Soe. FMI Airlines is operated by FMI Group. Thus, there will be a total of eight private airlines in Myanmar, five of them running international flights.
Including these two airlines, MIC also gave eight local companies MIC permits in October. Three garment factories in Yangon and Bago regions with a total investment of US$ 8.73 million; a 28-storey and 148-room apartment development project in Bahan Township by KHG Development Company; Nestle Myanmar, a food and beverage company; MC-Jalux Airport Service Company to upgrade Mandalay International Airport; and Yangon Aircraft Engineering for airplanes maintenance were given permit in October, according to Daw Than Than Myint, director-general at MiC.
