Yangon - In order to promote trade, the Ministry of Commerce opened the Myanmar Trade Center in its Yangon regional office on June 21st.
“We establish this center so that foreign investors can understand the specific procedures to follow if they want to invest in Myanmar and local businesses can collect information about the foreign markets they want to enter,” said U Win Myint, Minister for Commerce.
Two of the purposes of the trade center are to distribute commerce and trade information and to promote trade. It will provide about 15 trading services in Myanmar.
“This trade center is not spacious enough. It should be inviting and convenient for foreigners too,” commented a local rice exporter. Some businessmen also added that the trade center should provide services such as restaurants, cafes, and display of international monetary and stock exchange.
